About Us

Bob and Karen are glad you visited our blog.

We're (almost) retirees beginning the next chapter of our lives, figuring it out as we go along.

Anyone who knows Bob knows he loves astronomy.  He was given a telescope when he was 8 years old, took it apart, put it back together and it wasn't worse.  He was hooked.  Since then he's studied astronomy and telescopes and it has become a lifelong passion.  Karen isn't sure whether he likes stargazing or reconfiguring telescopes better.  He  is also an avid photographer, and has been in the same science fiction reading group since 1995.  Bob trained as an electrical and computer engineer and had a long career in high tech, culminating in working as a subcontractor on NASA's SOFIA mission.

Karen can't help organizing things and still had a crayon drawing of a project she organized when she was a Brownie Girl Scout, about 8 or 9 years old.  After starting her career as a programmer, she was always sent to "Talk to the Users" and gradually shifted to Project Management, then managing Project Managers and ultimately portfolios of technical software and hardware projects.  She was posted in Munich and London for 3 years with IBM ("I've Been Moved"), and fell in love with Europe.  She's been on a quest since 1992 to return.  Her interests include fashion design, cooking, writing and reading.

We share a  love of good food, wine, travel,  reading, learning, studying, exploring, science fiction, arts and culture, history and more.

Thank you for joining our adventure.  We hope there is much more to come.

Best wishes, KK & BB
